I'm a new fan....but I'm concerned :\
Hey guys as you can see I'm new to the forums. I'm also a pretty new fan to Pendulum. I was introduced to them when deadmau5 dropped "Ghosts n
Stuff"
To put it as short as possible, they are now my favorite band. I love all their albums. I appreciate the DnB on HYC, and the rock/metal aspects of
Immersion. I love EVERYTHING they make, no matter how different they are.
But I have noticed somthing.... TONS of people HATE them! like....
HAAATTTEEEE them.....
Why is this? I know there's the whole "they are just opinions, ignore them" thing, but I stumbled upon this band that makes music that I absolutely
LOVE in every way so it's very upsetting to see so much hatred. I literally have nevr seen any band with this bad of a haters-fans ratio. I have to
get to the bottom of this!
People call them "mainstream garbage" "trashy" "shite" and the list goes on and on. Who are these people?
1. Old fans that are upset about Immersion?
2. Hardcore DnB purists?
3. Not fans of electronic music at all?
And what the hell is with the music reviews?!?! Do they have a single positive review?
It's absolutly heartbreaking to see these forums and comment sections around the internet with 1000 people hating of them, and only 2-3 Pendulum
supporters there
But thing that just drives me nuts is when they say they are un-original, or their fusion of electronic and rock is cheezy. They are one of the most
original bands I know and I think they pull off the electonic-rock-DnB fusion WONDERFULLY! I'm just baffled! I mean if you don't like them, fine,
but people seem to say things about them that are obviously over the top and exaggerated. So could someone give me some input of this? Why the
hate!?
Sorry about this quintessentially noob-ish post. I won't do it again!

You like what you like and you shouldn't have to explain it to anyone, including yourself. Welcome to the forums

Welcome. Spread the Pendulum feeling. Play the popular songs like the Island or Propane to your mates and when they say they like it tell them its
Pendulum and give them an album to borrow. That worked for me!

Basically boss, its not mainstream music.
Naturally that ratio of haters to lovers will exist and critics wont like it because it doesnt match their usual criteria.

the above 3 points are just excuses, dont listen to them
When you go to a sold out concert/festival and pendulum headline and crank it up you wont be giving a flying truck.

Move to Cairns in Australia.
I have been to two house parties where the host played Pendy all night and, on one occasion, threatened to glass a guy who pulled out his iPod.
I have never heard a negative word about Pendulum in this town. Ever. It's kinda wierd because I'm well aware of the online flaming.

That's weird. I just recently became a huge Pendulum fan as well and all I've heard and read are very positive reviews and comments. I was very
surprised when reading their Itunes reviews; I didn't come across a single negative comment, neither on youtube... so I don't know where you're
seeing this negativity!

^ Go to music forums like dogsonacid or any website or youtube video that promotes DNB. I see plenty of Pendulum hate there.

High five RaGeQuaKe! I understand you perfectly. But haters gonna hate. Bands change, you can't call Pendulum drum and bass anymore. I just don't
understand why people don't get over it.

I've tended to find that most locations in Australia have more supporters than haters. And if they don't know about Pendulum, educate them at high
volume!

I think the issue here is that it really is "hate" and not neutrality. For example, I don't find Ajapai/Quartus Saul dubstep very appealing (quite
boring and samey, TBH), but I don't hate it. I'm quite neutral to it, because I don't jump at it. There is no music that I hate (except maybe for
that generic RnB/poppy-house "dance dance dance sex sex sex" bullshit they play all night at some clubs), only music which I just don't really
listen to.

Don't mean to be repetitive.. But still the only things you can say are: Haters going to Hate.. You can't force people to like something you like ,
educate yes. Similarly if you don't like an artist that's fine! Life is to short to get screwed up about stuff.

What's next for Pendulum's future?
Hey guys!
It's been a few months since Pendulum has gone on a hiatus. This has me thinking about the future of the band. The tone of Rob's final tweets
on behalf of the band sort of suggested he was done for good, at least that's what I got from them. However, Ben did say they will work on an album
in 2013, but no comment from anyone else was made. Is that something he just said to give us a glimmer of hope?
Rob and Gareth seem to be EXTREMELY happy with Knife Party, much more then they have been with Pendulum. Now I
can't read minds, so this is speculation, but it seems they are so happy with KP that they may ditch Pendulum for good in favor of it.
I hope this isn't the case. KP is great, but Rob was a LEGENDARY vocalist/keyboardist in Pendulum, live and in studio IMO. It's something we
will never get to see again unless he goes back to Pendulum. Another thing we won't see is that AWESOME DnB/Rock/Electro fusion that they totally
NAILED
So What do you guys think? Are they done with Pendulum or are they REALLY just taking a break. That would suck HARD if they kept us hanging for a
year then announced they are disbanding for good. Maybe this is all the inner pessimist in me talking....
What are your thoughts? What's the likely-hood of them breaking up? Perhaps its to early to say?

Alright, so Pendy started off as a drum & bass act just like any other, but it got so big that eventually vinyl just became archaic (maybe not the
right word...) for them (eg. A/AA or A/B side releases). Albums and maxi-singles only now. What was the last proper vinyl release? Oh right, Blood
Sugar/Axle Grinder in 07. Five years ago. That's before In Silico and Immersion. Maybe Pendy just got out of hand and Rob doesn't much like it
anymore. Maybe he prefers the club scene, not the live scene.

If that's true thats a real shame I mean, I kinda get it. We all
know Rob is extremely introverted, and Ben was there to make up for that at the live shows, so it would make sense that he prefers the club scene. You
don't need to be outgoing to DJ, and entirely different story when you're a front-man of a band.
And that brings me to the part I will NEVER understand. If Rob is so shy and introverted, why did he become the lead singer of a band in the first
place? I mean, he is crazy talented, but totally not front-man material. (again, which is why Ben exists :smirk
Well, he made it nearly a decade as the face of the band, so maybe it's just too much pressure/stress? You don't even have to be a musician to know
that Live concerts are a HELL OF A bigger deal and more stressful then you and your buddy DJing at a small night club....

Rob became the lead singer because as he sing on some songs of Hold your colour, suddenly they did not want that Pendulum in studio and live are
different
