Eden Sessions, Cornwall 25/06/2011
Just thought I'd get a thread ready. Leaving tomorrow pm, camping near the site and then in the next day. Will report what and when I can and put up
picture or video links when I get back
For everything that could have been, well at least we took the ride....

THIS GIG WAS SO AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! So violent with the bottles though! Girl not to far from me got whacked in the face! I think Gareth's Bass got hit
as well?
Pretty Lights was awesome too but he didn't really cut it for me.
Set list was pretty good, I really wanted them to play Encoder but I pretty much knew they wouldn't. Oh well.
Lots of drugs I saw... I think half of the audience was out of it with alcohol and drugs.

I am in a dilemma. I filmed a few odds and sods from the sound check, do I put it up or keep it for personal viewing. It was after all a very
priveledged position to be in to be able to watch the whole of the soundcheck..You may laugh at my morals
Photos yes

So me and my other half went down on Friday afternoon. Took us 4.5 hrs to get there. Traffic quite heavy. Got to campsite around 19:30 and got tent up
pdq as it was raining and windy! Went to the pub
Got up early next day shower, tea and bacon buttie then down to the Eden Project for opening time... As we came through the entrance and looked down
into the bowl at the stage we could see that the FlyByNite truck was already there and well under way with the unloading. We wandered down and were
delighted to find that the barrier was incredibly close to the stage so we could watch the set being constructed. The staff at the entrance told us
that Pendulum would be soundchecking at approx 15:45 til 16:45 and that we could watch it...wow what a bonus!!
There is only so much work you can watch so after chatting up security and assuring our place in the (on existent at this time) queue, we wandered
away for something to eat and drink. Although the tickets for the Sessions were quite pricey £37.50 it did get you into the Eden Project on the
following day as well so we were pleased at that, suppose its not a big deal for the locals.
Went back to the railings at about 14:00, a few more people had turned up by then but they wandered off. Band arrived at approx 15:30 but were ushered
in by the tour Manager pretty quick. Few people watched the soundcheck and I admit I did film SITW but actually felt a bit guilty. (Mind one bloke
filmed it all!!!) That sort of thing doesn't happen often so I think of it as a very special treat.
Soon as I heard Perry play a few chords I KNEW what the new track was. War of the Worlds My other half John had guessed correctly when Rob first
tweeted what was planned for Glasto!!
After the soundcheck queung started in ernest. Nice to be able to walk to the front and own!!! Barrier was opened at 18:30 and just a short 20 ft walk
to our place on the barrier centre left. First act wasn't due until 19:30 so a large majority of the crowd who had been drinking solidly since
midday, started throwing bottles, albeit mostly empty, but not all! Yeah its a laugh if you don't get hit but eventually a fight started and the
police moved in to the crowd.
Support was a Dj set, Pretty Things, not my thing, he did a Dubstep version of Money, Pink Floyd ...like wtf. Even got the road crew coming out from
round the back to lol. Sure there are some lovers of this guy out there.
So finally at just past 21:00 on come PENDULUM to Ransom which is just an epic walking on to the stage tune!!! Ben shouted out..hey Cornwall you start
a riot before we come on!!
Straight into SITW. There were some changes to the setlist to accomodate War of the Worlds which the band let us hear for the first time!!! It was
totally mindblowing.LOVED LOVED LOVED Perrys guitar on this...he is an absolute GOD!
Just jumped, screamed, headbanged , fed the fire, broke my vision, threw my fists up etc etc. For the whole 1.5hrs, got Perrys setlist at the end.
They literally went off stage and away to their hotel. Despite the earlier "trouble" the crowd were very easy going compared to some!! Had a
brilliant night in an amazing setting, it would be fantastic to see them their again but I dunno. They didn't sell out..3,000 out of 6,000 tickets
but I suspect if Glasto wasn't on it would have sold more.
Few people commenting saying they were disapointed that Tarantula, FYS have been dropped. Yes I miss them but I love the new stuff too....can't
please all the people
For everything that could have been, well at least we took the ride....
