I'm heading down to Newcastle for the Gig, as I wanted to see the lads up at T in the Park but I don't know what day they are playing and tickets are sold out (I think) but frankly seeing them in a small venue like the academy is far better than a festival.

Pendulum are playing on the Friday at T, but I personally think a smaller (2,000 capacity) will be bang tidy!

Even if there were tickets remaining, they don't do Friday passes, but TBH, T's a bit shit, it's full of junkies and neds, several friends have advised me to go to Leeds if I want to see a real festival. Newcastle will be fantastic, they were good at Braehead in December, but the crowd was a lot smaller than I expected, plus I was in the seats, due to putting off getting a ticket until they were almost sold out.

i doubt it, unless they are leaving london out of it. it would be a good idea after the weather fucked up a few gigs. but they did say that show in london was their last in london this year.

Okay we'll wait and see But Ben said in an interview, and he was sitting next to Gareth, that they would 'probably' be doing another Arena tour in the UK before they take a break..

Know of any decent pubs/bars around the Academy where I can get a cheeky wee pint before the gig?

Saw this on Twitter :

rob_swireRob Swire

Deleted "F.Y.Seatbelts" from the live set tonight. 4 years overdue IMO, will replace with original album version of "Hold Your Colour".

Comments?

i think that's great. HYC is one of the best tracks for me (and saiyn' that, i mean not just Pendulum track). And i think, they might remove Slam soon too. And replace it with... Don't know... Newer version of The Other Side, or what would be sickest option (but never gonna happen) is new version of Spiral.

HYC back is good, but FYS deleted when you still have SITW, Different & The Other Side in the mix just isn't a good idea at all.

FYS is probably my favourite live song, would be in my top 5 easily.

FYS always seemed to lack the power of the rest of the songs live. Other songs i'd like to see go are SITW and Blood Sugar

FYS probably my favourite live song. Lacked power? Madness.

HYC was always best as an encore and had a great bookend feeling to a set.

FYS got the crowd bouncing and singing along. It was always the 2nd song and always set the tone for the gig.

This is royally bollocks with some of the weaker songs left in the repetoire. Why not remove its half cousin the otherside? Never did anything in the charts, nobody knows it, no instant riff and a bit tame by all regards

Over and out

^ I always thought it lacked power. It worke after showdown as the intro at Brixton, but it wasn't the same as the rest of the tracks. Things from IS or Immersion are more guitar-y meaning they fit the style of the live performance betteer than something like FYS which doesn't and never did include guitars and sounds vaguely wrong with them. I did like the Voodoo Switch at Glasto though...

And the Other Side? The guitar riff, albeit under the vocals but it shines in the instrumental, is bloody amazing! It's one of my favorite songs to play with my band, and only partly cos it means i get to piss about on our vocoder...
